Atelier Impopulaire & Aldo Tambellini, 2013
Curated by Atelier Impopulaire
Produced by Atelier Impopulaire, Festival du Nouveau Cinéma, Hors Champ, with the support of the Conseil des Arts de Montréal
A re-interpretation on double-screen of unreleased footage by Aldo Tambellini (60s-70s), found and edited for a new installation by Atelier Impopulaire. Presented as part of the retrospective Discontinuities of Light: Film, video, performance (1965-1969) at the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma 2013, with a new original musical score by composers Steve Bates et Marc-Alexandre Reinhardt.
First presented in 1966 in New York, Moondial is a performance for 16mm projector, dancer, musicians and 2 slide carousels. This is one of the many Electromedia performances that Tambellini produced in the 60s through which he deployed the field of his creative obsessions the “black”, the spiral, the intersection of media and improvisation. The new re-enactment of Moondial is produced and directed by Atelier Impopulaire.
With Sophie Gaspard (dance), Anthony Pageot (drums), Charles-André Coderre and Yann-Manuel Hernandez (slides), Daïchi Saïto (16mm projector).
